Basics of a Social Media Campaign
Perhaps I’m sharing too much here, but as a person who is dedicated to progressing people and their dreams, I can’t help myself. I want you all to understand how to build a social media campaign, especially those of you reading who have dedicated your life to movements that are far bigger than life.
It’s nothing new to say that social media requires so much more than just jumping into Twitter or Facebook, setting up an account and randomly posting updates, quotes, RT’s and deals. It requires a little bit of thought, a whole lot of intention, and that elusive element of hustling. I get asked the question “How do we do social media, for our church (or business)?” quite often.
Here’s my four step approach I’ve used to drive the efforts of a few churches, non-profits, and businesses.
- Discover the Intentions – Who are you trying to reach? And who, will your “who” reach? Determine the audience of your influencers and how you can generate content that will be of interest to those influencers.
- Develop the Approach – How will you reach them? What value will you provide the “who”? What will you deliver to attract them?
- Implement the Tools – Where will you deliver. Will it be email, a consistent blog, Twitter, Facebook, or one of the many others out there? Once you’ve identified who the “who” are, figure out where they are.
- Drive the Progression – Launch. Engage. Listen. Communicate. Influence. Learn. Grow
You see, it’s really not that hard. We tend to overcomplicate the easiest of solutions. Personally, I believe with these steps and a little creative thought, you could be blazing your own path in the digital world in no time. Until then, let me know if you need some help getting started! Here to help you progress.
What do you think? Are these four steps enough? Or should there be more to it?
